The Arab Media Renewal Journal (AMRJ) requires all parties involved in the publication process - authors, reviewers, and editors - to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence the objectivity or integrity of the research, review, or editorial decisions.

Definition

A conflict of interest exists when a participant in the publication process has a financial, personal, professional, or intellectual relationship that could be reasonably perceived to bias their judgment or actions. Conflicts may be actual, potential, or perceived.

Author Responsibilities

At the time of submission, authors must disclose all financial and non-financial conflicts of interest that could be construed to influence the results or their interpretation. This includes, but is not limited to, employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, paid expert testimony, patent applications, research grants, and personal relationships. If there are no conflicts to declare, authors must explicitly state: "The author(s) declare no conflict of interest."

Reviewer Responsibilities</h3

Reviewers must inform the editor of any conflicts of interest that could bias their evaluation before agreeing to review a manuscript. If a conflict is identified during the review process, the reviewer must notify the editor immediately and withdraw from the review. Reviewers must not use information obtained during the peer review process for their own or any third party's advantage.

Editor Responsibilities

Editors must recuse themselves from handling a manuscript if they have any conflict of interest with the authors, the research topic, or the funding source. In such cases, an alternative editor will manage the manuscript through the review and decision process. The Editor-in-Chief ensures that all editorial decisions are made solely on scholarly merit.

Funding Disclosure

All sources of funding for the research must be declared in the manuscript. The role of the funder in the study design, data collection, analysis, decision to publish, or preparation of the manuscript must be described. If the funder had no involvement, this should be explicitly stated.
