The Arab Media Renewal Journal (AMRJ) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, international academic journal dedicated to the critical examination and advancement of media studies and public relations within the Arab world and globally. Published and managed through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform at amrj.org, AMRJ provides a rigorous scholarly forum for original research that interrogates the evolving landscape of Arab media, communication theory, digital journalism, public relations, international relations, and the socio-political dimensions of information ecosystems across the Middle East, North Africa (MENA), and the world. The journal is issued by  Rawafid University for Sciences.

Vision

To become a globally recognized, Scopus- and Web of Science–indexed reference journal that redefines the study of Arab media and public relations by foregrounding renewal, innovation, and critical inquiry as foundational pillars of scholarship in communication sciences and international relations.

Mission

AMRJ is committed to:

  • Publishing methodologically rigorous, theoretically grounded, and ethically sound research that contributes to the renewal of Arab media and public relations scholarship.
  • Bridging the gap between Western-centric communication paradigms and the unique socio-cultural, linguistic, and political contexts of Arab media and public relations environments.
  • Promoting interdisciplinary dialogue among scholars, practitioners, and policymakers engaged in media reform, digital transformation, audience studies, and international relations in the Arab region and globally.
  • Upholding the highest standards of editorial independence, transparency, and compliance with international publishing ethics as defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The "Renewal" Niche

AMRJ occupies a distinctive scholarly niche centered on the concept of "renewal" (تجديد) in Arab media and public relations. This encompasses research that critically reassesses legacy media and public relations frameworks, explores emergent digital ecosystems, investigates the transformation of journalistic and public relations practice, and theorizes new models of audience engagement, media governance, and information integrity in Arab societies. The journal actively encourages contributions that challenge conventional assumptions, propose innovative methodological approaches, and offer evidence-based insights into the future trajectories of Arab media and public relations.

Publishing Standards and Indexing Compliance

AMRJ adheres to international best practices to meet the indexing criteria of Scopus and Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science), including transparent double-blind peer review, a diverse and internationally represented editorial board, ethical publishing policies aligned with COPE, DOI assignment for all published articles (CrossRef has been obtained through Dar Al-Alamah Developmental Electronic Publishing Foundation), XML-structured metadata for cross-database interoperability, and open-access dissemination under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC-BY-NC 4.0).

Governance and Editorial Independence

The Editorial Board of AMRJ operates with full autonomy from the publishers (Dar Al-Alamah and Rawafid University) in all matters of academic decision-making. Editorial decisions are based exclusively on scholarly merit, peer review outcomes, and alignment with the journal's scope. AMRJ maintains a transparent funding model with no external commercial sponsorships that could influence editorial content or article selection.

Target Audience

AMRJ serves a diverse readership including academics and researchers in media, communication, journalism, and public relations departments; graduate students (MA and PhD candidates) in media studies, public relations, and related disciplines; media professionals, journalists, digital content strategists, and public relations practitioners; policymakers and regulatory bodies in the media, information, and international relations sectors; and international scholars interested in Arab media and public relations from comparative or interdisciplinary perspectives.
