Digital Preservation Policy
The Arab Media Renewal Journal (AMRJ) is committed to the long-term preservation and permanent accessibility of all published content. Recognizing that digital scholarship must remain available to the research community in perpetuity, the journal implements robust digital preservation strategies aligned with international standards and Scopus/Clarivate indexing expectations.
Preservation Strategies
AMRJ employs the following preservation mechanisms to safeguard published content against technological obsolescence, data loss, and platform failure.
The journal utilizes the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which is integrated with the OJS platform and provides automated, decentralized dark archiving of all published content. Through the PKP PN, journal content is preserved through the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) technology, ensuring that multiple copies of content are stored across geographically distributed nodes.
In addition, AMRJ pursues archival agreements with recognized digital preservation services, including CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS), Portico, and national digital library systems, as these become available and applicable.
All articles are published with persistent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) registered through Crossref, ensuring that content remains discoverable and accessible even in the event of URL changes or platform migration.
The journal maintains comprehensive XML-structured metadata for all published articles, facilitating long-term machine readability and cross-platform interoperability.
Commitment to Perpetual Access
In the event that AMRJ ceases publication, the journal commits to ensuring that all previously published content remains permanently accessible through the preservation networks and repositories described above. Arrangements for content custody will be established with appropriate institutional or archival partners.
